How to fold an origami firefly
Fold a dark triangle and fold its corners down into wings that part in a thin V. Slim it, then glue a round yellow glow under the tail so it shines out below the wings.
You need: 1 square sheet, dark on one side, a small yellow square a third its size, a glue stick and a black pen. Easy, 6 steps, about 6 minutes.
Steps
- Make a triangle. Start white side up, like a diamond. Fold the top corner down to meet the bottom corner.
- Wings down. Fold the left and right corners down so their tips land just either side of the bottom point, leaving a thin V between the wings.
- Slim the body. Fold both sides behind to make the body long and narrow, and fold the top point a little behind for the head.
- Glow: small square. Set the body aside. Take the small yellow square, yellow side up, like a diamond.
- Glow: round it. Fold all four corners a little behind, so the glow is round.
- Glue on the glow. Glue the body on top of the glow, so the yellow sticks out round the end of the wings.
Light up the night!
Give the head two white eyes and two feelers, then draw little lines round the tail to make it glow.
