How to fold an origami pirate hat

A triangle with its top folded behind for a round crown, and both bottom corners swept up as the brim. Draw a skull and crossbones on the front.

You need: 1 square sheet, black on one side, and a white pen or crayon. Easy, 5 steps, about 3 minutes.

Steps

  1. Make a triangle. Put the square white side up like a diamond. Fold the bottom corner up to meet the top corner.
  2. Fold the top behind. Fold the top point behind, about a quarter of the way down, so the hat has a flat top.
  3. Round the top. Fold the two top corners behind a little, so the top of the hat looks round.
  4. Sweep up the left end. Fold the left corner up so it points up and out at a slant, creasing from a little left of the middle of the bottom edge.
  5. Sweep up the right end. Fold the right corner up the same way, so both ends of the brim sweep up.
