How to fold an origami sailboat

A band folded up from the bottom makes the coloured hull, and the plain side above it becomes a tall white sail. Fold the sides behind to shape it, then draw the mast.

You need: 1 square sheet, blue or red on one side. Easy, 4 steps, about 3 minutes.

Steps

  1. Crease the centre line. Fold in half side to side, crease, then unfold.
  2. Fold up the hull. Fold the bottom edge up to the middle of the sheet. This coloured band is the hull.
  3. Shape the sail. Lift the hull. Fold the white paper behind on each side, from the end of the hull's fold to the top of the centre crease. Lay the hull back down.
  4. Slant the ends. Fold the hull's bottom corners behind, from each top corner of the hull down to the bottom edge, straight below where the sail meets the hull.

Bon voyage!

Draw a mast up the centre crease, and a stripe along the hull with a white gel pen or a strip of paper.
