How to fold an origami arrow
Three parts: a long, thin shaft folded from a whole sheet, a pointy head from a small grey square and a triangle of feathers from a small red one.
You need: 1 brown A4 or Letter sheet for the shaft, and 2 small squares (about 10 cm): one grey, one red. Medium, 11 steps, about 8 minutes.
Steps
- Shaft: crease the middle. Start with the shaft, brown side down. Fold the sheet in half from side to side, crease, and unfold.
- Shaft: edges to the middle. Fold the long edges in to meet at the centre crease.
- Shaft: make it thin. Fold the long edges in to the middle again.
- Shaft: thinner still. Fold the long edges in to the middle one last time. Press it flat.
- Head: new sheet. Set the shaft aside. Take the grey square, white side up, turned like a diamond.
- Head: crease the diagonal. Fold the left corner to the right corner, crease, and unfold.
- Head: make a tall kite. Fold the two upper edges in to lie along the centre crease.
- Head: tuck the tip. Fold the white point at the bottom up behind, along the line between the side corners.
- Feathers: new sheet. Set the head aside. Take the red square, white side up, turned like a diamond.
- Feathers: make a triangle. Fold the bottom corner up to meet the top corner.
- Put it together. Glue the shaft's bottom end over the feathers' point, then glue the head on top of the shaft's other end.
Bullseye!
Draw a few lines on the feathers, then aim it at a paper target.
