How to fold an origami cicada
A classic Japanese model. The corners fold up and back down into wings, two layers fold down to stripe the head, and the sides tuck behind.
You need: 1 square sheet, 15 × 15 cm. Medium, 6 steps, about 5 minutes.
Steps
- Make a triangle. Fold the bottom corner up to the top corner.
- Corners up. Fold the left and right corners up to the top point.
- Wings down. Fold both flaps down so their points stick out below the bottom.
- Top layer down. Fold the front layer of the top point down.
- Second layer down. Fold the next layer down too, a little higher, so both stripes show.
- Sides behind. Fold the left and right sides behind to shape the body.
