How to fold an origami double-decker bus
Fold a red sheet into a long box with a pleat between the two decks, then snip the side strips free and fold them down as wheels. White pen windows finish it.
You need: 1 red A4 or Letter sheet (landscape), scissors and a white and a black pen. Medium, 7 steps, about 10 minutes.
Steps
- Top and bottom behind. Red side up, long side across, fold the top edge behind about 4 cm and the bottom edge behind about 4.5 cm.
- Pleat: fold up. Fold the lower half up on a level line just below the middle.
- Pleat: fold down. Fold it back down on a line just above, leaving a step across the bus: top deck above, bottom deck below.
- Sides behind. Fold the left and right edges behind, about 3 cm each.
- Snip the strips free. Snip along both side folds from the top edge down to the middle step, so the upper parts of the strips behind come loose.
- Wheels down. Fold each loose strip down behind, level with the end of the snip, so its end pokes out below the bus as a wheel.
- Round wheels and roof. Fold the bottom corners of both wheels and the two top corners of the bus behind, a little each.
All aboard!
Draw white windows along both decks, a door at the front and a headlight. Add a white hubcap on each wheel.
