How to fold an origami koala face
Fold the corners of a triangle down and swing them back out as two big ears, round them off, then fold the bottom point up into a white chin. Turn it over and draw the big nose.
You need: 1 square sheet, 15 × 15 cm, grey on one side. Easy, 9 steps, about 5 minutes.
Steps
- Make a triangle. Fold the top corner down to meet the bottom corner.
- Crease the middle. Fold the triangle in half, left corner onto right corner, and unfold.
- Corners down. Fold the left and right corners down so their points meet on the crease, a quarter of the way up from the bottom point.
- Swing the ears out. Fold each flap back up on a line from its outer corner to about 1 cm below the head's top corner, so its point sticks out above the top edge.
- Blunt the ears. Fold the tip of each ear down, straight across, until the point touches the fold along the bottom of the ear.
- Round the ears. Fold over the two little corners at the end of each ear, from about 1 cm along each edge, so the ears turn round.
- White chin. Fold the front layer's bottom point up to the middle of the crease.
- Back point behind. Fold the back layer's point up behind the whole koala, along the same line, so the bottom is flat.
- Turn it over. Flip the koala over.
G'day, koala!
Draw a big dark nose, two small eyes and a little mouth. For white fluff in the ears, glue on 2 cm white paper circles or use a white gel pen.
