How to fold an origami seedling
Fold a square into a long, slim diamond, fold it in half, slim the stem and turn one point out each way: two pointed leaves on a stem.
You need: 1 square sheet, green on one side. Easy, 6 steps, about 4 minutes.
Steps
- Top edges in. Start white side up, a corner at the top. Fold the two upper edges in to meet on the middle line.
- Bottom edges in. Fold the two lower edges in to the middle too. A long, slim diamond.
- Slim it. Fold the left and right corners in, creasing 1.5 cm out from the middle line. A slim strip with a point at each end.
- Fold in half. Fold the bottom point up behind, onto the top point.
- First leaf. Fold the front point out to the left on a slant, starting 2 cm below the tip. It sticks out as a leaf.
- Second leaf. Fold the back point out to the right behind it, the same way. Two leaves!
It's sprouting!
Stand it in a cup of beans or tape it to a window.
