How to fold an origami star
Fold the square into a small triangle, make one straight cut, and open it out: a shining four-pointed star with a fold line down every point.
You need: 1 square sheet, gold or yellow on one side, and scissors. Easy, 7 steps, about 3 minutes.
Steps
- Fold in half. Fold the top edge down to the bottom edge.
- Fold in half again. Fold the right edge over to the left edge. The middle of the sheet is now the top-right corner.
- Fold a triangle. Fold the top-left corner down to the bottom-right corner, so the fold runs from the middle corner to the bottom-left.
- One snip. Cut straight through all the layers, from the bottom-right corner to the long fold, a third of the way down from its top.
- Open the triangle. Lift the top flap and fold it back up.
- Open it again. Unfold the left half back over to the right.
- Open it flat. Unfold the bottom half back up. Your star has four points!
Twinkle, twinkle!
Hang it on a thread or stick it in the window.
