How to fold an origami toothpaste
Fold one end of a red strip behind so it pokes out as a white cap, crimp the flat end, then slim the tube and fold its shoulders.
You need: A 6.5 x 27 cm strip of paper (cut from the long side of A4). Easy, 5 steps, about 6 minutes.
Steps
- Cap: slant the sides. Coloured side up, lying across. On the left 15 cm, fold the long edges to the front on a slant, from 12 cm in to 1 cm from the middle at the end.
- Cap behind. Fold the slanted part behind, folding where the slants start. Its white tip pokes out past the right end: that is the cap.
- Crimp the end. Fold the left end over to the front, about 1.2 cm. This is the flat, crimped end of the tube.
- Slim the tube. Fold the top and bottom edges of the tube behind on a slant, from the crimp to 0.5 cm in near the right end. Keep the cap out of it.
- Shoulders. Fold the two right corners of the tube behind on a slant, about 2 cm, so it narrows into the cap.
Squeeze!
Draw ridges on the crimp and the cap, and a wavy white stripe of paste along the tube.
