How to fold an origami triangle
Fold a long silver strip into a thin band, bend it twice into a triangle with a gap at one corner, then fold a slim beater.
You need: A 4 x 30 cm strip of silver paper, white on the back, a 2 x 15 cm strip of dark grey paper, a black pen and glue. Medium, 7 steps, about 10 minutes.
Steps
- Edges to the middle. Start with the long silver strip, white side up. Fold the top and bottom long edges in so they meet in the middle.
- In half. Fold it in half the long way to make a thin silver band.
- First corner. About a third of the way along, fold the band up and back on a slant, so the rest points up to the left.
- Second corner. At the top, fold the band straight across so it heads back down to the left. Stop just short of the start: leave a gap.
- Beater. Set the triangle aside. Take the dark strip for the beater.
- Beater: in half. Fold it in half the long way, folding behind, to make a thin metal rod.
- Put them together. Lay the triangle down with its gap at the bottom left, and rest the beater across its right side, ready to strike.
Ting-a-ling!
Give the beater a black knob at its top end to hold. Hold the triangle by its top corner and tap it to ring it.
