How to fold an origami baseball cap

A deep pleat pops a small crown up behind a thin strip. The back of the strip folds away, so the rest sticks out in front as the peak.

You need: 1 square sheet, red or blue on one side. Easy, 7 steps, about 4 minutes.

Steps

  1. Bottom behind. Put the square coloured side up like a diamond. Fold the bottom corner behind, just below the side corners.
  2. Top behind. Fold the top corner behind along a line just above the side corners. A thin strip is left in front.
  3. Crown up. Behind, fold the corner back up a good way lower, so a small point pops up over the top. That's the crown.
  4. Tuck the point. The corner behind now pokes out below the strip. Fold that bit behind, level with the bottom edge.
  5. Back behind. Fold the left end behind, in line with the crown's left corner. The strip now only sticks out on the right: the peak.
  6. Flat top. Fold the point of the crown behind.
  7. Round the crown. Fold the back corner of the crown behind on a small slant, and a thin sliver off the front corner, so the crown is a round dome.
