How to fold an origami bell
A tall kite with its point tucked away makes the bell. The white tip comes back down as the clapper, and a pleat gives the bell its wide rim.
You need: 1 square sheet, gold or red on one side. Easy, 7 steps, about 4 minutes.
Steps
- Crease the diagonal. Start white side up, a corner at the top. Fold the left corner to the right corner, crease, and unfold.
- Make a tall kite. Fold the two upper edges in to lie along the centre crease.
- Tuck both points. Fold the white bottom point up behind along the line between the side corners. Fold the top point behind a little too.
- Pull down the clapper. At the back, fold the white point down so its tip sticks out below the bell.
- Fold the bell behind. Fold the whole bell behind, just above the bottom edge, leaving a band at the bottom.
- And back up. Fold the bell back up, creasing a little lower than before. The band left below is the bell's wide rim.
- Round the top. Fold the two top corners behind, just a little, to round the bell's shoulders.
Jingle!
Draw a bow on top and a dark ball on the clapper, then hang the bell on the tree with a loop of thread.
