How to fold an origami easy cowboy hat

A triangle with one pleat makes the crown sit in a wide brim. Flatten the top and flip the brim's ends up and it's ready for the rodeo.

You need: 1 square sheet, brown on one side. Easy, 5 steps, about 4 minutes.

Steps

  1. Fold a triangle. Put the square white side up like a diamond. Fold the bottom corner up to the top corner.
  2. Fold the top down. Fold the top part down along a line a little above the bottom edge.
  3. And back up. Fold it back up a little lower. The crown now sits on a brim that sticks out on both sides.
  4. Flat top. Fold the point of the crown behind so the top is flat.
  5. Turn up the brim. Fold each end of the brim up at a slant, so the tips point up beside the crown.

Yee-haw!

Draw a dark band around the bottom of the crown. Tape it to a paper doll or a toy horse rider.
