How to fold an origami little fire hydrant
Fold the corners of a diamond behind and back out as two nozzles, then pleat the top into a slimmer cap and flatten the base.
You need: 1 square sheet, red on one side. Easy, 8 steps, about 5 minutes.
Steps
- Right corner behind. Put the square coloured side up like a diamond. Fold the right corner behind along a straight up-and-down line, a bit in from the corner.
- Right nozzle. Behind, fold that corner back out on a line a little further in, so its tip sticks out at the side as a nozzle.
- Left corner behind. Fold the left corner behind along a straight up-and-down line, as far in as the right side.
- Left nozzle. Behind, fold that corner back out on a line a little further in, so its tip sticks out at the side as a nozzle.
- Top behind. Fold the top corner behind along a straight line across, near the top.
- And back up. Behind, fold it back up a little lower, so a slimmer cap sticks up over the body.
- Round the cap. Fold the tip of the cap behind along a straight line across, so it has a flat top.
- Flat base. Fold the bottom corner behind along a straight line across, so the hydrant stands flat.
Ready for the fire truck!
Draw a line under the cap, one near the base and a white bolt on each nozzle. Park a paper fire truck next to it.
