How to fold an origami flute
Fold a long silver strip into a slim tube, pleat each end to make the joints, then draw the mouth hole and the keys.
You need: A 6 x 23 cm strip of silver paper, white on the back, a black pen and a white paint pen. Medium, 4 steps, about 8 minutes.
Steps
- Edges to the middle. Start white side up. Fold the top and bottom long edges in so they meet in the middle.
- In half. Fold it in half the long way, so it becomes a slim silver tube.
- Pleat: fold in. Near each end, fold the end back over the tube, a finger-width from the end on the left and a bit less on the right.
- Pleat: fold out. Fold each end back out again, just a little way in from the first fold. The small steps are the flute's joints.
Toot-toot!
Draw a black mouth hole near the left end and a row of white keys with black rings, joined by a thin line. Hold it sideways to play.
