How to fold an origami fried egg
A dark square folds into a round pan with a handle strip. A white square gets a wobbly edge for the egg white, and a little yellow circle makes the yolk.
You need: 1 dark grey square, a dark grey strip for the handle, a smaller white square, a little yellow square and glue. Medium, 13 steps, about 10 minutes.
Steps
- Pan: corners behind. Dark side up. Fold the four corners behind, so you get an eight-sided shape.
- Pan: round it. Fold all eight new corners behind, just a little, so the pan is round.
- Handle. Set the pan aside. Take the dark strip, dark side up.
- Handle: in half. Fold the top half behind, so the strip is dark on both sides.
- Handle: round the end. Fold the two right corners behind a little, to round the end of the handle.
- Egg white. Set the handle aside. Take the white square.
- White: corners behind. Fold the four corners behind, each by a different amount. A fried egg is never neat!
- White: bumpy edge. Fold four of the new corners behind, every other one, by different small amounts.
- White: wobbly edge. Now fold the other four corners behind a little, so the egg white gets a wavy, bumpy edge.
- Yolk. Set the egg white aside. Take the little yellow square, yellow side up.
- Yolk: corners behind. Fold the four corners behind.
- Yolk: round it. Fold the eight new corners behind, just a little, for a round yolk.
- Into the pan. Glue the handle to the side of the pan and the egg white in the middle. Then glue the yolk on the white, a little off-centre.
Sunny side up!
Draw a white shine on the yolk. Sizzle, sizzle!
