How to fold an origami cereal bowl

A blue square folds into a round bowl. A golden dome of cereal peeks over the rim with loops drawn on, and a grey strip makes the spoon handle sticking out.

You need: 1 blue square, a golden strip (a bit less than half as tall), a thin grey strip, glue, and white and dark pens. Medium, 10 steps, about 10 minutes.

Steps

  1. Bowl: rim. Blue side up. Fold the top edge behind, about two fifths of the way down. That's the rim of the bowl.
  2. Bowl: corners behind. Fold the two bottom corners behind at a slant, to start the round bottom.
  3. Bowl: round it. Fold the upper new corners behind a little, and the bottom point behind to make a flat base for the bowl.
  4. Cereal. Set the bowl aside. Take the golden strip, golden side up.
  5. Cereal: a dome. Fold the two top corners behind at a slant, then their new corners behind a little, to make a round heap.
  6. Cereal: round it. Fold the new corners of the heap behind, just a little, so it's nice and round.
  7. Spoon. Set the cereal aside. Take the thin grey strip, grey side up.
  8. Spoon: slim it. Fold both long sides behind at a slant, so the handle is wide at the top and thin at the bottom.
  9. Spoon: round the end. Fold the two top corners behind a little, so the end of the handle is round.
  10. Fill the bowl. Glue the cereal behind the bowl so it heaps over the rim. Slip the spoon in between, its handle poking up out of the cereal.

Crunch time!

Draw lots of little rings on the heap for the cereal loops. Pour in the milk!
