How to fold an origami gingerbread man
The sides fold behind, and short snips down the folds free two flaps that swing out as arms. A snip and two folds part the legs; folds round him off.
You need: 1 square sheet, brown on one side, scissors, and a white pen for the icing. Medium, 8 steps, about 10 minutes.
Steps
- Fold in half. Start brown side up. Fold the left edge over to the right edge.
- Open it again. Unfold it, so a crease runs down the middle.
- Sides behind. Fold the left and right edges behind to meet at the middle crease.
- Three snips. Snip down both side folds from the top, a bit over a third of the way. Snip up the middle crease from the bottom, about a quarter of the way.
- Swing out the arms. At the back, fold the top of each side flap out on a slant from the end of the snip, so it sticks out sideways as an arm.
- Part the legs. Fold the two bottom corners beside the middle snip behind, on slants from the top of the snip. A gap opens between the legs.
- Round the head. Fold the two top corners of the head behind, about 2.5 cm, so the head is round.
- Round the hands and feet. Fold the corners of the hands and the outer corners of the feet behind, just a little.
Run, run, as fast as you can!
Pipe on icing with a white pen: two eyes, a smile, three buttons and zigzags on the hands and feet.
