How to fold an origami ice cream van

Fold a mint half square into a van with a white windscreen. Glue a pink awning over the serving window, a cone with a pink scoop on the roof and two black wheels.

You need: Half a 15 cm mint square, a 1 × 6 cm pink strip, a 2 cm tan square, a 1.5 cm pink square, two 4 cm black squares, glue and a black pen. Medium, 18 steps, about 20 minutes.

Steps

  1. Body: fold the bottom behind. Start with the mint half square, mint side up, long edge at the bottom. Fold the bottom quarter behind.
  2. Body: windscreen. Fold the top-right corner down in front on a slant. The white triangle is the windscreen.
  3. Body: round the corners. Fold the top-left corner and both bottom corners behind, just a little, to round them.
  4. Awning: new sheet. Set the body aside. Take the pink strip for the awning, pink side up.
  5. Awning: fold in half. Fold it in half the long way, bottom half behind, so it stays pink on the front.
  6. Scoop: new sheet. Set the awning aside. Take the small pink square for the scoop, pink side up.
  7. Scoop: round it. Fold all four corners behind, a little way, so the scoop is round.
  8. Cone: new sheet. Set the scoop aside. Take the small tan square for the cone, tan side up.
  9. Cone: make a point. Fold both sides behind on a slant, from the top corners down to the middle of the bottom edge. Now it's a cone.
  10. Wheel 1: new sheet. Set the cone aside. Take a small black square, white side up.
  11. Wheel 1: corners in. Fold all four corners in to meet in the middle.
  12. Wheel 1: hubcap. Fold each point back out a little, so a small white square shows in the middle. That's the hubcap.
  13. Wheel 1: round it. Fold the four points of the square a little way behind, so the wheel looks round.
  14. Wheel 2: new sheet. Set the first wheel aside and take the other black square, white side up.
  15. Wheel 2: corners in. Fold all four corners in to the middle.
  16. Wheel 2: hubcap. Fold each point back out a little for the hubcap.
  17. Wheel 2: round it. Fold the four points behind to round it off.
  18. Put the van together. Glue on the wheels, half showing below. Glue the awning above the window, the cone on the roof, point down, and the scoop on top.

Ding-a-ling!

Draw a white serving window with a counter, stripes on the awning, waffle lines on the cone, a door and sprinkles. Who wants a cone?
