How to fold an origami jack-o'-lantern
Pleat an orange square twice down the front so it has pumpkin ribs, fold the top and bottom behind and round it off. A little green stem pokes up behind.
You need: 1 orange square (15 cm), 1 small green square (3 cm), glue and a black pen. Medium, 8 steps, about 10 minutes.
Steps
- Pleats: fold in. Orange side up, fold the left and right edges in to the middle.
- Pleats: fold back. Fold each flap back out on a line about 1 cm further in, leaving a step on each side: the pumpkin's ribs.
- Top and bottom behind. Fold the top edge behind about 3.5 cm and the bottom edge behind about 3 cm, a wide, low pumpkin.
- Round it. Fold all four corners behind, about 2.5 cm along each edge.
- Stem: new sheet. Set the pumpkin aside. Take the small green square, white side up.
- Stem: fold in half. Fold the green square in half from left to right.
- Stem: thinner. Fold it in half again, right onto left: a thin, strong stem.
- Glue on the stem. Glue the stem behind the top middle of the pumpkin, so most of it pokes up above.
