How to fold an origami paintbrush
A strip at the top makes the bristles and a long strip at the bottom the handle, with a white band left between. Slim it from behind, point the tip and taper the handle.
You need: Half a big square (15 × 30 cm), coloured on one side (red looks great). Easy, 5 steps, about 4 minutes.
Steps
- Fold two strips. White side up, long side upright. Fold the top edge down a short way, and the bottom edge up a long way, leaving a thin white band between them.
- Sides behind. Fold the left and right edges behind to meet in the middle.
- Slim it again. Fold both sides behind once more, making a long thin stick.
- Point the bristles. Fold the two top corners behind on a slant so the bristles come to a point.
- Taper the handle. Fold a long thin slice off each side of the handle behind, from the white band down, so it gets narrow at the end.
Let's paint!
Draw a few bristle lines on the tip. The white band is the shiny metal part. Dip it in a pretend paint pot.
