How to fold an origami paper boomerang
Fold a sheet into a thick strip, taper its ends to points and bend it in the middle into a boomerang. Flick it from the tip with a spin and it swings round in a curve.
You need: 1 sheet of A4 or Letter paper. Easy, 6 steps, about 4 minutes.
Steps
- Crease in half. Fold the top edge down to the bottom edge, crease, then unfold.
- Edges to the middle. Fold the top and bottom edges in to meet at the middle crease.
- Fold in half. Fold the top down onto the bottom along the middle. Now it's a thick, stiff strip.
- Bend the arm. Fold the right half down on a slanted line through the middle, so the two arms open in a wide V.
- Point the ends. Fold the two corners at the end of each arm behind, so both arms come to blunt points.
- Turn it. Turn it so the bend points up and the arms spread down either side.
Whoosh!
Pinch the corner a little curved. Hold one tip, tilt it up, and flick it forward with a spin. It curves round in the air.
How to throw it
- Hold the end of one arm between thumb and finger, bend pointing forward.
- Tilt it almost upright and flick your wrist hard so it spins.
- Watch it curve. Bend the arms a little to change its path.
