How to fold an origami pigeon
Fold a grey square into a bird base. Fold the long point up as a short neck, fold its tip down as the head and beak, then round the tummy and square the tail.
You need: 1 square sheet, 15 × 15 cm, grey on one side, and a black pen. Easy, 7 steps, about 4 minutes.
Steps
- Crease the middle. White side up, like a diamond. Fold the top corner down to the bottom one and open it again, for a crease across the middle.
- Long point. Fold the two right-hand edges in to lie along the crease. The grey flaps make the right end a long point.
- Fold in half. Fold the top half down onto the bottom half along the crease, flaps inside. The long fold on top is the bird's back.
- Neck up. Fold the long point up on a slant, creasing from 8 cm along the bottom edge to 5 cm along the back, both from the tip.
- Head. Fold the tip of the neck forward and down, about 2 cm from the end, so it makes a small head with a beak.
- Tummy and tail. Fold the low corner of the body behind on a slant for a round tummy, and fold the tail's tip behind, 2 cm, so it ends square.
- Sit it up. Tilt it back a little, so the chest puffs up and the tail slopes down.

Draw a round eye on the head and a curved wing line along the side.
