How to fold an origami potted plant
Fold a terracotta square into a tapered flowerpot with a thick rim band, then fold three green leaves and fan them out behind the rim.
You need: A 15 cm terracotta square, three 13 cm green squares, a glue stick and a black pen. Medium, 13 steps, about 15 minutes.
Steps
- Pot: top behind. Clay side up, fold the top quarter of the square behind.
- Pot: the rim. Fold the new top edge down in front, halfway down the folded part. A thick rim band.
- Pot: taper the sides. Fold each side behind on a slant, from just under the rim to 2.4 cm in at the bottom corner. A flowerpot!
- Leaf 1: new sheet. Set the pot aside. Take a green square, green side up, like a diamond.
- Leaf 1: top edges. Fold the two top edges behind so they meet on the middle line.
- Leaf 1: bottom edges. Fold the two bottom edges behind onto the middle line too. A slim pointed leaf.
- Leaf 2: new sheet. Set it aside. Fold a second green square the same way.
- Leaf 2: top edges. Fold the two top edges behind so they meet on the middle line.
- Leaf 2: bottom edges. Fold the two bottom edges behind onto the middle line too. A slim pointed leaf.
- Leaf 3: new sheet. Set it aside. Fold the last green square the same way.
- Leaf 3: top edges. Fold the two top edges behind so they meet on the middle line.
- Leaf 3: bottom edges. Fold the two bottom edges behind onto the middle line too. A slim pointed leaf.
- Glue it together. Glue the pot over the bottom of the leaves, the middle leaf standing up and the other two leaning out.
It's growing!
Draw a vein down each leaf. No watering needed!
