How to fold an origami purse
Fold the top corners of a square in, the bottom up as the pocket and the top down as the flap, then slant the sides. A strip bent into an arch is the handle.
You need: 1 purple square (15 cm), 1 purple strip (15 × 3 cm), glue and a gold or yellow pen. Medium, 8 steps, about 8 minutes.
Steps
- Flap corners. White side up, fold the two top corners down on slants, about 4 cm along the top edge and 6 cm down the sides.
- Pocket. Fold the bottom edge up, about two thirds of the way to the top. That's the pocket.
- Flap. Fold the top down over the pocket on a level line just above it, so the corners tuck under. That's the flap.
- Slant the sides. Fold the left and right edges behind on slants, more at the top than the bottom, so the bag widens downwards.
- Handle: new strip. Set the bag aside. Take the purple strip, purple side up, long sides level.
- Handle: narrow it. Fold the top and bottom edges behind so they nearly meet in the middle, making a thin, sturdy strip.
- Handle: bend the ends. Fold each end down on a slant, about 3 cm from the middle, so the strip makes an arch with legs splaying out a little.
- Glue on the handle. Glue the ends of the handle behind the top corners of the bag, so the arch stands up above it.
