How to fold an origami rabbit
Fold a triangle that stands on its fold, reverse-fold a white cotton tail and cut a round back. Then snip and swing up two long ears on a bunny face.
You need: 1 brown square (15 cm), a small brown square (6 cm), scissors, glue and a black pen. Hard, 11 steps, about 25 minutes.
Steps
- Body: fold in half. White side up, fold the bottom corner up to the top corner. The long fold at the bottom is the ground; the rabbit will face right.
- Body: snip the tail. Snip 4 cm along the bottom fold from the left point, so the two layers of the point come apart.
- Body: cotton tail. Fold each layer's point up and back on a slanted crease from the end of the snip, the front one to the front and the back one behind. It turns white.
- Body: round back. Cut the top off in a round hump, from the rump over the back and down the chest to the ground. Snip the tail's top corners off so it looks fluffy.
- Head: new sheet. Set the body aside. Take the small brown square, white side up, turned like a diamond.
- Head: make a triangle. Fold the top corner down to the bottom corner.
- Head: corners down. Fold the left and right corners down to meet the bottom point.
- Head: snip the ears free. Cut along both slanted folds, from the outer corners about two-thirds of the way to the top middle.
- Head: ears up. Fold both flaps up so their points stand tall above the top edge, leaning out a little.
- Head: turn it over. Flip the head over so the smooth side faces you.
- Glue it together. Glue the head on the front of the hump, so its chin sits on the chest and the ears stand up high.
Twitch, twitch!
Draw a big curve for the strong hind leg, a line for its long foot and one for the front paw. Add eyes, a nose, a mouth and whiskers.
