How to fold an origami rolling pin
Fold a strip in half for the fat wooden roller and round its corners. A long thin strip runs behind it and sticks out at both ends as the handles.
You need: A 15 x 7.5 cm strip of light brown paper (half a square), a 3 x 24 cm strip of darker brown paper, and glue. Easy, 6 steps, about 5 minutes.
Steps
- Roller: fold in half. Roller first. Lay the wide strip across, white side up. Fold the top edge down onto the bottom edge.
- Roller: round the corners. Fold all four corners behind a little, less than 1 cm, so the roller looks round at the ends.
- Handles: new sheet. Set the roller aside. Take the long dark strip, white side up, lying across.
- Handles: fold in half. Fold the top edge down onto the bottom edge.
- Handles: round the ends. Fold the four corners at the two ends behind a little, so each handle ends in a round knob.
- Glue it together. Glue the roller over the middle of the strip, so the same length of handle sticks out at each end.
Roll it out!
Draw a few wavy lines of wood grain on the roller. Now roll out some play dough for pretend cookies.
