How to fold an origami whisk

Fold a grey square behind into a long kite and round its top into a balloon. Glue a folded red handle over the point and draw the looping wires.

You need: A 15 cm square of grey or silver paper, a 4 x 12 cm strip of red paper, glue and a black pen. Easy, 7 steps, about 6 minutes.

Steps

  1. Balloon: long kite. Balloon first. Put the square grey side up, turned like a diamond. Fold the two lower edges behind so they meet on the middle line.
  2. Balloon: top behind. Fold the top corner behind, about 3 cm, making a flat top.
  3. Balloon: round the top. Fold the tips of the four corners around the top behind, about 1.5 cm, so the top is a round dome.
  4. Handle: new sheet. Set the balloon aside. Take the red strip, white side up, standing tall.
  5. Handle: fold in half. Fold it in half along its length, left edge over onto the right edge, and glue it flat.
  6. Handle: round the end. Fold the two bottom corners behind a little to round the end.
  7. Glue it together. Glue the top of the handle over the balloon's bottom point, about 2 cm up.

Whisk it up!

Draw the wires: loops from the handle up to the top, wide ones outside, thin ones inside. Add two rings and a hole on the handle.
