How to fold an origami flip-flop sandal
Fold the sides of a long strip behind on slants and round its corners for the sole. A pink strip, folded narrow and bent at its middle, makes the V-shaped toe strap.
You need: 1 turquoise rectangle (7.5 × 15 cm), 1 pink strip (11 × 2 cm) and glue. Medium, 8 steps, about 8 minutes.
Steps
- Sole: shape the sides. Coloured side up, long sides upright. Fold the left and right edges behind on slants: just a little at the top, more at the bottom.
- Sole: round the toe. Fold the two top corners behind on a slant, so the toe end is round.
- Sole: round the heel. Fold the two bottom corners behind the same way, so the heel is round too.
- Strap: new strip. Set the sole aside. Take the pink strip, pink side up, long sides level.
- Strap: narrow it. Fold the top and bottom edges behind so they nearly meet in the middle, making a thin strap.
- Strap: make a V. Fold the right half down on a slant through the middle, so the two halves open into a V.
- Strap: point up. Turn the strap so the point of the V is at the top.
- Glue on the strap. Glue the strap on the sole: the point of the V a third of the way down, the ends at the sides.
