How to fold an origami planet saturn
Round a small square into an octagon for the planet, fold a bigger square into a long pointed strip for the ring, and glue the ring across the middle at a tilt.
You need: A 9 cm tan square for the planet, half of a 15 cm square in a darker gold-brown for the ring, scissors and a glue stick. Easy, 7 steps, about 8 minutes.
Steps
- Planet: round it. Start with the small tan square, tan side up. Fold all four corners a little way behind to make a round octagon.
- Ring: new sheet. Set the planet aside. Take the half square, white side up, long edges at the top and bottom.
- Ring: edges to the middle. Fold the top and bottom edges to the middle line.
- Ring: and again. Fold the new top and bottom edges to the middle line again, to make a long thin strip.
- Ring: point the ends. Snip the four corners of the strip off at a slant, so each end comes to a point in the middle.
- Glue the ring on. Glue the ring straight across the middle of the planet, with the same length sticking out on each side.
- Tilt it. Turn Saturn a little so the ring leans up to the right.
Ringed planet!
Draw two curved stripes above the ring and one below it. Hang it from a thread with the other planets.
