How to fold an origami campfire

Fold an orange and a yellow square into tall pointed flames, one inside the other, and two brown strips into logs. Cross the logs over the bottom of the flames.

You need: An 11 cm orange square, a 7 cm yellow square, two 16.5 × 4.5 cm brown strips and a glue stick. Easy, 11 steps, about 8 minutes.

Steps

  1. Big flame: tall point. Start with the orange square, white side up, turned like a diamond. Fold the two upper edges in to meet along the middle.
  2. Big flame: turn it over. Flip it over so the smooth orange side faces you.
  3. Small flame: new sheet. Set the big flame aside. Take the yellow square, white side up, turned like a diamond.
  4. Small flame: tall point. Fold the two upper edges in to meet along the middle, just like the big flame.
  5. Small flame: turn it over. Flip it over so the smooth yellow side faces you.
  6. Log: new sheet. Set the flame aside. Take a brown strip, white side up, long side across.
  7. Log: fold in half. Fold the bottom edge up to the top edge. A long brown log.
  8. Second log. Set it aside. Take the other brown strip, white side up, long side across.
  9. Log: fold in half. Fold the bottom edge up to the top edge, like the first log.
  10. Tilt the log. Turn this log so its right end goes up a little.
  11. Light the fire. Glue the big flame behind the logs and the small flame on it. Cross the first log over the second one, its left end up.

Toasty!

Draw rings on the log ends. Pretend to toast a paper marshmallow on a stick.
