How to fold an origami sheep face
Snip and fold a dark square into a long sheep face with ears that stick out, then cut a scalloped fleece from a folded white square, like a paper snowflake. Glue the face on and draw big eyes and a smile.
You need: A 15 cm square, black or dark grey on one side; a white 21 cm square cut from printer paper; scissors, glue, a white gel pen and a black pen. Medium, 14 steps, about 14 minutes.
Steps
- Face: fold the top down. Start dark side up. Fold the top edge down so the crease is a bit more than a quarter of the way down.
- Face: open it again. Unfold it. You will snip along this crease.
- Face: snip the ears free. Cut along the crease from each side, a quarter of the way in. The pieces above the cuts become the ears.
- Face: sides behind. Below the cuts, fold each side behind on a slant, from the end of the cut down to a third of the way in along the bottom edge. The ears stay out.
- Face: shape the ears. Snip the top corners off in two slants, so the head is domed and each ear ends in a point. Round off the chin's two corners.
- Wool: new sheet. Set the face aside. Take the white 21 cm square.
- Wool: fold in half. Fold the top edge down to the bottom edge.
- Wool: in half again. Fold the left side over onto the right side, making a small square.
- Wool: corner to corner. Fold it in half on the diagonal through the corner where all the folds meet, making a triangle.
- Wool: cut a bump. Cut a gentle curve right across, from the top folded edge to the slanted folded edge, 9 cm from the corner where all the folds meet on each.
- Wool: open the triangle. Unfold the last fold.
- Wool: open again. Unfold the next fold.
- Wool: open it flat. Open the last fold so the wool lies flat. Round bumps all the way round make a fluffy fleece.
- Glue on the face. Glue the face on the wool, its top edge a quarter of the way down, so the fleece frames the head all the way round.

With a white gel pen, draw two big eyes, a little nose and a smile on the dark face. Add black pupils.
