How to fold an origami shrimp
Fold a long strip in half and snip a pointy head and a slim tail. Three slanted folds curl it round into a C, each overlap a shell segment.
You need: 1 strip of paper 30 × 6 cm (cut from the long side of A4), pink on one side, scissors and a black pen. Medium, 5 steps, about 8 minutes.
Steps
- Fold in half. Fold the strip in half the long way, bottom edge up to the top edge, pink side out. The fold is the shrimp's tummy.
- Snip head and tail. Snip the left end to a point: off the bottom corner from 3 cm along the fold, and a bit off the top corner. Taper the right half to 1.4 cm at the end.
- Bend the body down. Fold the right part down on a slant, from the top edge 7 cm from the head, so the body points down to the right.
- Bend it back. Fold the rest over on a slant the other way, so it points down to the left. The overlaps look like shell segments.
- Curl the tail. Fold the tail over on a slant once more, so it points left and tucks under the head.
A curly shrimp!
Draw a dot eye, two long feelers sweeping back from the nose and little legs along the inside of the curl.
