How to fold an origami sitting rabbit

Fold a square into a triangle and sit it up. Slit a strip along the back and fold it up behind into two long ears, swing one forward, crimp the head and round the rump.

You need: 1 brown square (15 cm), scissors, and black and white pens. Hard, 11 steps, about 25 minutes.

Steps

  1. Fold in half. White side up, like a diamond, fold the top corner down to the bottom corner. The long fold at the top will be the rabbit's back.
  2. Crease the ear strip. Fold the top edge down 1.5 cm through both layers and crease it hard. This strip will become the long ears.
  3. Open it. Unfold the strip again.
  4. Sit it up. Turn it so the right point is straight above the bottom point. The long fold is the back, the right point the head, the left one the rump.
  5. Free the ears. Cut 6 cm down the strip crease from the front edge, and 7.5 cm down the back fold from the top point.
  6. Ears up. Fold the loose strip up behind on a crease from the end of the strip cut, both layers together, so it stands up and leans back.
  7. Ears apart. Fold the back layer of the strip behind on a crease from the same point, so it swings forward and the two ears open in a V.
  8. Head: crease. Fold the head corner down over the chest on a crease from the bottom of the ears, slanting down to the front edge. Leave the ears up.
  9. Head: crimp. Fold it back up on a crease from the same point, slanting a little more, so the head points forward.
  10. Round the rump. Fold the bottom left corner behind, 3.8 cm along each edge, all layers together.
  11. Rounder still. Fold the two new corners behind too, 1.1 cm each, so the rump is big and round.

Twitch, twitch!

Draw a shiny eye, a little nose, and a white fluffy tail on the round rump.
