How to fold an origami easy slug
A kite folded in half and laid on its side. The top folds behind to make a long, low back, and the long point flips up as a feeler. No cuts.
You need: 1 square sheet, 15 × 15 cm, yellow-brown on one side, and a black pen. Easy, 7 steps, about 3 minutes.
Steps
- Crease the diagonal. White side up, like a diamond. Fold the left corner to the right corner, crease, and unfold.
- Make a kite. Fold the two lower edges in to lie along the centre crease.
- Turn it over. Flip the kite over, keeping the long point at the bottom.
- Fold in half. Fold the left half behind the right half.
- Lay it down. Turn it so the fold is at the bottom and the long point aims right.
- Lower the back. Fold the top corner behind on a line from 3 cm up at the back to 3.5 cm up at the front, so the slug is long and low.
- Raise the feeler. Fold the long point up on a slant, with the crease starting 5 cm from its tip, so it stands up as a feeler leaning forward.
Slow and steady!
Dot an eye near the top of the feeler, draw a little smile at the front and a curved line for the slug's saddle.
