How to fold an origami snowman

Two parts: a big white ball with a scarf folded along its top, and a smaller ball with a hat folded the same way. Glue the head behind the scarf and draw a coal face.

You need: 1 square sheet and 1 square two-thirds as wide, red on one side, and a glue stick. Easy, 8 steps, about 6 minutes.

Steps

  1. Body: fold the scarf. Start with the big square, white side up. Fold the top edge down a narrow strip, so a red band shows like a scarf.
  2. Body: corners behind. Fold all four corners behind: the top ones a little, the bottom ones a bit more.
  3. Body: round it. Fold the eight new corners behind, just a little, to make a round snowball.
  4. Head: new sheet. Set the body aside. Take the smaller square, white side up.
  5. Head: fold the hat. Fold the top edge down about a quarter of the square, so a red band shows like a hat.
  6. Head: sides behind. Fold the left and right edges behind a little, so the head is as tall as it is wide.
  7. Head: round it. Fold the two bottom corners behind a lot and the two hat corners behind a little.
  8. Glue on the body. Glue the body over the bottom of the head, so the scarf sits right under the chin.

Let it snow!

Draw coal eyes, a carrot nose, a smile and three coal buttons. Make a whole snow family in different colours.
