How to fold an origami sperm whale
A kite with its whole top folded down, so the head ends flat and tall. Fold it in half, lay it down and lift the tail.
You need: 1 square sheet, 15 × 15 cm, dark grey or blue on one side, and a white pen. Easy, 6 steps, about 3 minutes.
Steps
- Crease the diagonal. White side up, like a diamond. Fold the left corner to the right corner, crease, and unfold.
- Make a kite. Fold the two lower edges in to lie along the centre crease.
- Square head. Fold the whole top triangle down, creasing straight across between the kite's two side corners.
- Fold in half. Fold the left half behind the right half.
- Lay it down. Turn it so the fold is at the bottom and the flat end is on the left.
- Lift the tail. Fold the thin end up on a slant, about 5 cm from its tip, so the tail flicks up.
Deep dive!
Draw a small white eye low on the head and a long thin mouth line under it.
