How to fold an origami whale tail
A triangle with its two sides folded across, one in front and one behind, so the corners pop up as flukes. The bottom point folds away for a flat sea line.
You need: 1 square sheet, 15 × 15 cm, blue-grey on one side. Easy, 4 steps, about 3 minutes.
Steps
- Make a triangle. White side up, like a diamond. Fold the top corner down to the bottom corner.
- First fluke. Fold the right side over on a crease from the bottom point to 2.5 cm right of the top edge's middle. Its corner pokes up past the top on the left.
- Second fluke. Fold the left side behind on the same kind of crease, 2.5 cm left of the middle. Its corner pokes up on the right, making a V.
- Flat sea line. Fold the bottom point behind, about 4 cm up, so the tail rises from a flat edge like the sea.
Splash!
Wave it up and down like a whale diving deep. Fold a few in different blues for a whole pod.
