How to fold an origami star box
A masu-style box with a twist: crease the corners on the diagonals, then pinch each corner into a point instead of tucking it in. From above it looks like a four-pointed star.
You need: 1 square sheet, 15 × 15 cm or larger. Medium, 8 steps, about 10 minutes.
Steps
- Crease the middle. Fold the left corner onto the right corner, crease, then unfold.
- Crease the other way. Fold the bottom corner up to the top corner, crease, then unfold. The creases cross at the centre.
- Corners to the centre. Fold all four corners in so their tips meet at the centre. You now have a smaller square.
- Crease the side walls. Fold the left and right edges in to the middle, crease well, then unfold.
- Crease the end walls. Fold the top and bottom edges in to the middle, crease well, then unfold.
- Crease a diagonal. Fold the square in half from the top-left corner to the bottom-right corner, crease, then unfold.
- Crease the other diagonal. Now fold it in half the other way, top-right corner to bottom-left, crease, then unfold. Each corner square has a diagonal crease.
- Raise and pinch the points. Lift all four walls. Pinch each corner square in half on its diagonal so it sticks out as a sharp point, and press the walls straight.
A starry little box!
Fill it with sweets, buttons or hair clips. Fold one in every colour and stack them as a starry tower.
