How to fold an origami little table lamp

Fold a diamond's bottom half behind and back down for a round base, then slant the sides behind so the shade flares out at the bottom.

You need: 1 square sheet, yellow or orange on one side. Easy, 6 steps, about 6 minutes.

Steps

  1. Top behind. Put the square coloured side up like a diamond. Fold the top corner behind along a straight line across, so the shade has a flat top.
  2. Bottom behind. Fold the bottom half behind along the middle line.
  3. And back down. Behind, fold it back down a little higher, so a short base sticks out under the shade.
  4. Sides behind. Fold the left and right corners behind along straight up-and-down lines.
  5. Slant the shade. Fold each side of the shade behind on a slanted line, from its top corner to its bottom corner, so the shade flares out at the bottom.
  6. Flat base. Fold the tip of the base behind along a straight line across, so the lamp stands flat.

Lights on!

Draw a trim line round the top and bottom of the shade. Put it on a paper bedside table for bedtime stories.
