How to fold an origami taco
A yellow square folds in half and rounds into the shell. Strips of green and brown and a little red tomato are glued in behind it, peeking out the top.
You need: 1 yellow square for the shell, a green and a brown strip (as wide as the square), a small red square, and glue. Medium, 12 steps, about 12 minutes.
Steps
- Shell: in half. Start with the shell, yellow side up. Fold the top half behind, so it's yellow on both sides.
- Shell: curve the bottom. Fold the two bottom corners behind at a slant.
- Shell: round it. Fold the four new corners behind a little, so the shell makes a smooth half moon.
- Lettuce: new strip. Set the shell aside. Take the green strip, green side up.
- Lettuce: in half. Fold the bottom half behind.
- Lettuce: round the top. Fold the two top corners behind at a slant, to make leafy round ends.
- Meat: new strip. Set the lettuce aside. Take the brown strip, brown side up.
- Meat: in half. Fold the bottom half behind.
- Meat: round it. Fold the two top corners behind a little.
- Tomato: new sheet. Set the meat aside. Take the small red square, red side up.
- Tomato: corners behind. Fold the four corners behind to make a round tomato slice.
- Fill the taco. Glue the lettuce, then the meat, then the tomato behind the shell's top edge, so they all peek out. Tomato off to one side.
Taco time!
Draw seeds on the tomato and little bumps on the shell. Fold a red or green shell for a funky taco.
