How to fold an origami tiara

Fold a strip of gold paper in half and pleat it, make one straight cut and open it out: a tiara with three points, the middle one tallest. Add white jewels.

You need: Half a 15 cm square (15 × 7.5 cm), gold on one side, scissors, a white gel pen and tape. Easy, 7 steps, about 8 minutes.

Steps

  1. Fold in half. Gold side up, long edge at the bottom. Fold the right edge over onto the left edge. The fold on the right is the middle of the tiara.
  2. Fold the end over. Fold the left end over to the right on an upright crease 3.4 cm from the right fold. The end sticks out a little past the right fold.
  3. Fold it back. Fold the end back to the left on a crease 1.3 cm in from the right fold, so its edge lines up with the left fold.
  4. One cut. Cut through all the layers from the top of the right fold down to the left fold, 2.6 cm above the bottom edge.
  5. Unfold. Unfold the end.
  6. Unfold again. Unfold the pleat.
  7. Open it out. Open the last fold. Three gold points, the middle one tallest!

Fit for a princess!

Draw white jewels on the points and along the band. Tape the ends round a headband, or to a strip of paper that fits your head.
