How to fold an origami capped acorn
Pleat a brown diamond behind across the middle so the pointed nut hangs below a wide cap. Narrow the nut, round it off and flip a stem up on top.
You need: 1 square sheet (15 cm), brown on one side, and a black pen. Medium, 9 steps, about 8 minutes.
Steps
- Side corners behind. Brown side up, turned like a diamond. Fold the left and right corners behind, about 3 cm each.
- Pleat: fold behind. Fold the bottom half behind on the level line across the middle.
- Pleat: fold back down. Behind, fold it back down on a line 1 cm higher, so the point hangs below again. The top is the cap.
- Snip the hidden fold. Turn it over. Snip along the lower fold of the pleat about 2 cm in from each end, then turn it back.
- Narrow the nut. Fold the sides of the hanging part behind, about 2 cm each, so the nut is narrower than the cap.
- Round the nut. Fold the nut's two side corners, where it starts to point, behind a little so it is round.
- Top behind. Fold the top corner behind on a level line, about 4 cm down, for the flat top of the cap.
- Stem up. Behind, fold the tip of that corner back up so it pokes out over the cap as a little stem.
- Round the cap. Fold the cap's four corners behind a little, so it is softly domed.
Nutty!
Draw a criss-cross pattern on the cap and a shiny streak on the nut.
