How to fold an origami banded clownfish
Fold both ends of a long strip in so a white band shows between them, taper the snout and body, then snip the tail and swing its halves out.
You need: 1 long strip (30 × 8 cm), orange on one side, scissors and a white and a black pen. Medium, 7 steps, about 8 minutes.
Steps
- Head end in. White side up, long side across. Fold the left end over to the right, about 7 cm. Orange shows.
- Tail end in. Fold the right end over to the left the same way, leaving a white band about 3 cm wide between the ends.
- Shape the body. Fold the four corners behind on long slants: short ones at the head for a snout, long ones toward the tail.
- Fold in half. Fold the bottom edge up to the top edge.
- Snip the tail. Snip along the bottom fold from the tail end in about 5 cm.
- Open it again. Fold the bottom half back down, so the fish lies flat with a slit in its tail.
- Spread the tail. Fold the top half of the tail up on a slant from the end of the snip, and the bottom half down, so the tail forks.

Draw a big eye and a smile, black edges on the white band, and a thin white band with black edges just behind the head.
