How to fold an origami tall angelfish
One square. Fold both ends of a diamond into a long point, then pleat each point on a slant so the tall fins sweep back, and snip the tail square.
You need: 1 square sheet (15 cm), golden yellow on one side and white on the other, scissors and a black pen. Medium, 9 steps, about 15 minutes.
Steps
- Crease the middle. White side up, fold the left corner onto the right corner, crease, and unfold.
- Top kite. Fold the two top edges in to the middle crease.
- Bottom kite. Fold the two bottom edges in to the middle crease too, so you have a long, thin diamond.
- Turn it over. Turn the paper over: a smooth yellow diamond with a long point at the top and bottom.
- Top fin: over. Fold the top point down over the body on a crease square to its front edge, 5.5 cm from the nose corner.
- Top fin: sweep back. Fold it back out on a crease from the same front end, slanting away so it is wider at the back: the fin sweeps back.
- Bottom fin: over. Fold the bottom point up over the body on a crease square to its front edge, 5.5 cm from the nose corner.
- Bottom fin: sweep back. Fold it back out on a crease from the same front end, slanting away so it is wider at the back: the fin sweeps back.
- Square the tail. Snip the tip off the tail corner, straight up and down, so the tail ends in a neat fan.
Glide, angelfish!
Draw an eye near the nose and two dark stripes down the body.
