How to fold an origami igloo with tunnel
Pleat a pale blue sheet twice for rows of snow blocks, then crease, snip and fold the left end so a low tunnel sticks out beside a rounded dome.
You need: 1 pale blue A4 or Letter sheet (landscape), scissors and a black pen. Medium, 11 steps, about 12 minutes.
Steps
- Top and bottom behind. Blue side up, long side across, fold the top edge behind about 2 cm and the bottom edge behind about 3.5 cm.
- Low pleat: up. Fold the bottom edge up on a level line just below the middle.
- Low pleat: down. Fold it back down on a line just above, leaving a step: a row of snow blocks.
- High pleat: up. Fold the bottom edge up again on a line about 3 cm higher.
- High pleat: down. Fold it back down just above, for a second row of blocks.
- Crease the tunnel. Fold the left end over to the front, about 5 cm from the edge...
- Open it again. ...and fold it back out flat, leaving a crease.
- Snip the crease. Snip along the crease from the top edge down to about a third of the way up from the bottom.
- Lower the tunnel. Fold the top of the left end behind, level with the end of the snip, so only a low tunnel is left.
- Round the dome. Fold the two top corners of the dome behind, about 4 cm along each edge, and round the tunnel's corner a little.
- Round it more. Fold the new corners at the top and right of the dome behind, a little each, so it is nice and round.
Snug inside!
Draw a dark arched doorway on the end of the tunnel and a few block lines on each row.
