How to fold an origami beehive
Fold a square into a rounded straw dome, a brown strip into a board and a little yellow square into a bee. Glue them together and draw the coiled rings, the door and the bee's stripes.
You need: 1 straw-yellow square, 1 brown strip, 1 small yellow square, a glue stick and a black pen. Medium, 7 steps, about 8 minutes.
Steps
- Hive: big corners behind. Take the straw-coloured square, coloured side up. Fold the two top corners behind on big slants.
- Hive: round the dome. Fold the four new corners at the top a little behind, so the top is a round dome.
- Bee: new square. Set the hive aside. Take the small yellow square, yellow side up.
- Bee: make it round. Fold all four corners a little behind, so the bee's body is round.
- Board: new strip. Set the bee aside. Take the brown strip, white side up, lying long ways.
- Board: fold in half. Fold it in half the long way, top edge down to the bottom edge.
- Glue it together. Glue the hive standing on the board, then the bee up by the top of the dome.
Buzz buzz!
Draw curved rings round the dome and a dark round door at the bottom. Give the bee stripes, wings, an eye and a dotted flight path.
