How to fold an origami mailbox
Fold a blue rectangle into a box with a rounded top, a brown strip into a post and a red strip into a flag bent at a corner. Glue them up with the flag raised: you've got mail!
You need: 1 blue rectangle, 1 brown strip, 1 red strip, a glue stick and a black pen. Medium, 8 steps, about 8 minutes.
Steps
- Box: top corners. Take the blue rectangle, blue side up, lying long ways. Fold the two top corners behind.
- Box: round the top. Fold the four new corners a little behind, so the top is nicely rounded.
- Flag: new strip. Set the box aside. Take the red strip, white side up, standing tall.
- Flag: fold in half. Fold it in half the long way, left edge over to the right edge.
- Flag: bend the top. Fold the top part down on a slant so it points to the right. That's the flag on its arm.
- Post: new strip. Set the flag aside. Take the brown strip, white side up, standing tall.
- Post: fold in half. Fold it in half the long way, left edge over to the right edge.
- Glue it together. Glue the box on top of the post. Glue the flag on the box's side near the back, sticking up above the top.
You've got mail!
Draw the door line near the front end of the box and a little knob on it.
