How to fold an origami shovel

Fold a grey square into a pointed blade with a bright top edge, a brown strip into a shaft and another into a triangle grip with two slanted bends. Glue the three parts in a line.

You need: 1 grey square, 2 brown strips (1 light, 1 dark), a glue stick. Medium, 9 steps, about 10 minutes.

Steps

  1. Blade: top edge. Take the grey square, grey side up. Fold the top edge down a little, so a white strip shows where your foot pushes.
  2. Blade: pointed tip. Fold the two bottom corners behind, from halfway up each side to the middle of the bottom edge. Now the blade has a point.
  3. Handle: new strip. Set the blade aside. Take the dark brown strip, white side up, lying long ways.
  4. Handle: fold in half. Fold it in half the long way, top edge down to the bottom edge.
  5. Handle: first bend. A third of the way along, fold the right part down on a slant, so it points down and to the left.
  6. Handle: close the triangle. Fold the end up on a flat line, so it runs back up to the left end. Now the grip is a triangle.
  7. Shaft: new strip. Set the handle aside. Take the light brown strip, white side up, standing tall.
  8. Shaft: fold in half. Fold it in half the long way, left edge over to the right edge.
  9. Glue it together. Glue the blade over the bottom of the shaft, point down, and the triangle handle on the top, point down.

Let's dig!
